American Violet

We watched this movie tonight, and I think it's a very important story to be told. Based on true events that occurred in 2000, American Violet is just a snapshot of systemic injustice. Overall, the film is an inspiration. Makes me want to go to law school...

True, true. Enjoying that school very much!

But it would be nice to be able to advocate for people who are suffering the high human costs of a quota-management system.

Quite honestly, watching this film reminded me of the life-ruining games that power-brokers used in communist regimes. Only there, pretty much everyone was vulnerable (whether you were part of the establishment or not). Here, there are separate worlds based on class and race. White middle-class folks like me just don't have to worry about this sort of thing.

If Isaiah 61 has anything to say to us, surely someone who knows the law / is qualified to advocate in the courts of law, and know that they have Christ and bucket loads of prayer backing them (and the battle is His, not ours) then a Christian fighting a just cause in the courts of law has to be a force to be reckoned with. Doesn't mean you'll win every case, but God will get the glory.
