Worth 1,000 Words

My husband took many photos of his trip to Uganda. This one impacted me the most. These are a couple of orphans from northern Uganda (where there has been conflict with the LRA for the past 20 years). Their parents murdered, their villages burned, these children now live in a small orphanage called Jesus Village where they receive good care and education. Upon my husband's arrival, they ran to their room to proudly display this banner that they had produced to represent themselves. It speaks for itself... (you can click on the image to enlarge it).

Wow! I'm most interested to see how God works in a continent filled with orphans in the next two decades. It's amazing and sad to know that kids are forcefully recruited and brainwashed to murder even other kids. You should check out the story of General Butt-Nacked. You can find one story at: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22765054/?GT1=10755

The only thing the story doesn't mention is the former general's school for former fighters.

K-Bob, ya... I just cried when I saw it.

Eric, I actually posted about that guy a month or two ago (as an example of the outrageous love and mercy of God). School for former fighters? I'd like to hear more about that!

I see the sign above the door - Jericho (I'm guessing) - may they find security and peace in Jesus village.

We call this collateral damage - what a pathetic excuse.

You know, when I originally heard the general's story, I also heard that he had started a school for former fighters. However, I can't find anything on the internet about it. He is, at least, making a call to former fighters to help solve problems they helped create.

Eric, thanks for looking. Stuff like that can be hard to track down. But it's good to hear that he is actively seeking to promote solutions in any case.
